    If you're searching for another diet book, this isn't it. Most of us already could name the calories, fat grams and carbohydrates of nearly any food on the menu. Judith Beck doesn't even espouse a diet. In fact, she lets you choose your own. What she does do is hold your hand and walk you through why you eat as you do and how to change your ways.     Twenty-five Pounds Lighter:

    I found this book at our local library and thought it looked promising. I had been slowly but steadily gaining weight for the past few years and even though I am a former Weight Watcher's leader I could not seem to stick to the program. I stared working my way through Dr. Beck's book and realized that I needed to own the book since the behavior changes that I would be making would probably need reinforcement.     Hopefully, you don't have a life, because if you do, it's going to be tough to stick to this plan. Between scheduling charts, diet notebooks, counting your "credits" and on and on and on, you're not going to have much time to do anything else. Maybe that's how the diet works, you're keeping your hands busy writing and you can't eat.
    If you want to lose weight, I think there are better books out there.
