This new edition is the most authoritative text for first responders. The text meets and exceeds the 1995 DOT First Responder Curriculum. Supplemental information is identified as FYI material which may easily be incorporated or omitted at the preference of the instructor. This text still provides the framework around which first responders can gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to care for victims of sudden illnesses and accidents, which may occur in urban, suburban and rural settings. They will learn how to function when specialized equipment is not available, how to work effectively with limited equipment, and how to perform as key assistants to the emergency medical technician or paramedic who arrives on the scene to provide more complete medical care for the patient.

This one is DOA:
If you are looking for a good EMT book, I would take my business over to the Brady series. Did the editor actually look at this thing? I would have to say no! Forget about it, move on.
First responder:
For the most part the book is very educational & easy to follow. Although there are many misspelled words, wrong or conflicting answers. Also, many topic areas taught aren't the way it is in the "real" world. To me it didn't look like the auther did much proof reading prior to it being published. Hopefully, there'll be a better book on the market soon.
