DEFINITELY not the book it should be!:
What a disappointment! There is nothing in this book that hasn't been done and done MUCH better in other books. There are next to no instructions on techniques. For example, under the section "Gathers" there are exactly 2 SMALL paragraphs that tell you it can be done on a serger, but basically the only instructions on how to do it are "tighten your tension". Good generic serger book:
This classic serger book gives plenty of basic information on how sergers work and how to make them work for you. I owned it long ago and finally ended up repurchasing it after it disappeared. It's that useful!
Finally, a Serger Book with Practical Applications:
I have purchased LOTS of different serger books, all of which teach you how to thread your machine and adjust for a balanced stitch, many of which suggest weird "crafty" applications for sergers -- but this is the first book I've found that tells you how to start incorporating your serger into a variety of basic garment construction: children's wear, underpants, jeans, sweaters -- you name it. Handy little book to have around.:
Sewing machines are a fun way to express yourself and anyone can learn. After you have mastered the basics of sewing it's time to get a serger and really have fun. This book is a great little reminder of all of the things you can do with a serger and the fun you can have with a machine that finishes and even trims your seams.
