Israeli delta fighters pilots have been credited with almost 300 kills between 1966 and 1974, and dozens of them became aces. The Israeli aerial kill exchange rate and overall air-to-air performance was phenomenal. Although the Israeli pilots were flying Mach 2 fighters, they lacked any modern radar equipment and their MiG-21 flying opponents should have had a performance edge over them. This book details their most signifcant engagements, many of which were essentially World War 2 style dogfights fought with jet aircraft. Because neither side had the combat edge to disengage at will most engagements were a life and death struggle and the introduction of air-to-air missiles and the Israeli Nesher was to prove decisive in this theatre.

This is a very good book about the IDF Mirage and Nesher. Until I read this book, I did not know of the Nesher fighter. The book has piqued my curiousity about the Nesher and answered a lot of questions I had of the Israeli Mirage. It has provided me excellent information on how to model, paint and finish an IDF Mirage. Also, it was an enjoyable read on the combat exploits of both fighters. I hope Osprey publishes more books like this.
Needs some maps added:
Each chapter describes the battles the Mirage and Nesher pilots were involved in ... fine. But ... as the author has chosen to structure his book this way, each chapter needs a map at the start of it to better understand the huge volumes of text and photos to follow.
Lots of great photos and incredibly detailed and extensive monologues of actual dogfights. If it had a few maps to get the text into context, it would get a 5.
