Forgotten Star

Forgotten Star
by: Woody Leonard

Editorial Review:

In this first book from novelist Woody Leonard, the triumphant and tragic story of Margot Durning is told against a backdrop of two powerful settings: Hollywood in its heyday, and the desolate landscape of Northwest Oklahoma, where Margot's life begins...and where it finally and fittingly ends.

Mr. Leonard's sense of place is rich and meticulous. He captures the magic of the Hollywood of the '30s, and the powerful influence the motion picture industry had on the people who performed, and on the vast, star-struck movie-going audience. And he is also at home in the curious Oklahoma setting that, for all its starkness, has a reality and solidity that Margot never found in Tinsel Town.

A Word Of Caution To Self-published Authors:

Woody Leonard has some talent. However, this author's talent was systematically derailed by shallow, fundamentally-flawed editing that left the book, FORGOTTEN STAR, a mere shadow of its original intent.

The author has a knack for storytelling; this is more than abundant as we read about a Hollywood icon's self-imposed exile, her escape nurtured by benevolent allies in and out of the motion picture industry. The author has considerable knowledge concerning Hollywood's gilded era, along with a gift for... more info

A Must HAVE book!:

The moment I sat down with "Forgotten Star", I couldn't put it down! Within these pages unfolds the story of Hollywood star Margot Durning, her life, her love, her legacy!! I really couldn't stop reading this wonderful book! The skill with which Mr. Leonard has developed the story line will make you wonder if Margot Durning really didn't exsist! The heyday of Hollywood, with its glitz and shine is a sharp contrast to the stark beauty the reader finds about the panhandle of Northwest Oklahoma. This book... more info

Fabulous First !!:

This first novel from Mr. Leonard is truly incredible!! The Story of Margot Durning's fast rise to fame, a recluse life in NW Oklahoma and tragic end in the arms of her "true love." A MUST READ !

Forgotten Star Best Forgotten:

I was quite excited to discover a book set in the area of the country where I grew up. When I saw the 5 star rating - I couldn't wait for the book to arrive. No words can truly express my disappointment with this book. Mr. Leonard's story has potential, but I had trouble following it due to all of the grammatical errors and typos. The storyline was a good one, but it was impossible to comprehend fully due to the poor editing job. Mr. Leonard might have writing skills, but his decision making skills when it... more info
