A great buy...:
This product is justifiably regarded as a best buy by Consumer Reports. As always, I found all of their observations and assessments to be correct. I bought this scanner to digitize a few thousand of my father's 35mm slides, many of them over 50 years old. The results exceeded my expectations. At four slides per scan, it took a few days, but I think I've already gotten my $90 worth. Canon 4400F Scanner Review:
The quality of the scan is excellent. The process is more complex than the HP scanner it replaced but the quality of the scan is worth is. Great value. Highly recommended.
Mediocre scanner:
This product is a good first scanner for a hobbyist who wants to begin scanning images into various projects. I can only give it three stars,however, because the attachment that permits scanning slides and negatives, which is of considerable importance to me, is poorly designed. This was my second scanner. The first was a second generation model from another manufacturer and it performed the slide/negative scanning in a far superior manner. The scanner is simple to use. It's much faster than our old scanner. I've been scanning some old pictures and now the new pictures look better than the originals
