i bought these shoes for my spin class at the gym. tennis shoes were killing my feet during the climbs, so the instructor advised i get cycling shoes if i was going to continue with the classes. i chose these shoes for the fact that i can walk from the parking lot, into the gym, hop on my bike and get started right away. everyone else has road shoes that they sit on the floor and change into. the shoes are comfortable and look like a normal hiking shoe. even though the shoes are for men, i find that the... more info
A shoe that looks as good as it works:
I wasn't sure if I wanted to go all out for clipless shoes, as the bike for which I purchased these shoes is a hybrid and I wasn't anticipating doing 'serious' biking. In the end, I decided to compromise and get a shoe that I could actually walk around in without 'stork stepping'. After several rides on the local paved trail, with refreshment and site-seeing stops requiring I actually walk around a bit, I am very happy I made the choice I did. Nice intro to clipless:
Bought this at my LBS (local bike shop). I was looking to step up from toe clips and since I was buying a new bike it seemed like the perfect time to do that. My racing buddies advised against the road shoes and clips and told me that I would be happier with the SPD two bolt cleats. They were right. I much prefer the easier click in twist out.
