Customer Review: This book is well written and understandable, and goes into significant depth. After reading the section on delegates, I finally understand what they are!
Customer Review: I, for one, miss the days of large reference manuals as opposed to help files and Google searches. For me this book is a throwback in terms of its completeness and scope. If you program in VB.net I feel this is a must-have reference. I've given it to 2 of my developer friends already and plan to... more info
Customer Review: I have read several books on this topic, but this book was very structured wich made it easy to follow. It gave a very clear explaination on both base- and advanced OOP programming concepts. Many things I'v not read anywhere else and many times I yelled 'AHA!' and 'WOW!'. Yes, it was great fun to... more info
Customer Review: This book is the perfect example of a good "Computer" book: It teaches what it needs to teach in a way you understand.
It covers all the important stuf like BSTRs, Smart Pointers, DCOM, TLBs, IDLs and other buzz-like acronyms.
I used it as an only reference for learning COM and I was... more info
Customer Review: Fresh from bashing the bloated idiots' mind-dump produced by Wrox on this subject I felt compelled to put in a glowing endorsement of this very well written book. It's a fairly meaty book, intermediate to advanced I think, but so well written it's a joy to read.
Customer Review: There may be times when you need to access legacy COM DLL's written in non-managed C++ or Visual Basic. This may be as a stop-gap measure until your older legacy code can be updated to .NET. In cases where performance is critical, you may have no desire to ever upgrade your C++ DLL, but would like... more info
Customer Review: I see that to-date 3 reviewers have awarded 1/5. Huh? I have a collection of at least 20 .NET related books. If I lost any of these I probably wouldn't replace them, with the exception of this book. I use the MSDN library mainly as a reference, but when I can't find what I'm looking for,... more info
Customer Review: This book is a good introduction to ASP.NET 2.0, it will not suffice to anyone requiring details.
It gives an introduction to architecture, and some introduction to the WCF (Windows COmmunication Foundation), but not nearly enough.
I would wait until more literature comes out on .NET 3.0... more info
Customer Review: examples are not great.
they need to be more practical.
book seems to be written for people with COM experience.
lingo used throughout the book assumes you have been "OOP-ing" in another language.
C++ coders wanting to transition to VB.NET would appreciate this book.
