Customer Review: I am a fan of Dennis Lehane and thought Mystic River an unforgettable book. The Given Day is extremely long but remains informative with much education regarding Boston at the end of the First World War. Lehane is excellent at drawing the reader into his story and developing almost touchable... more info
Customer Review: This is one of my favorite books I've ever read. I got absolutely involved, and began to feel what the characters were feeling. True vicarious entertainment. Never a dull moment, I couldn't put it down. This book took me away.
Customer Review: Prayers for Rain had been in my TBR pile for quite a while--several years at least. Surely not since 1999, though my copy is a new, non-remaindered hardcover, so probably since 2000. I don't feel that bad about leaving it there, because there are still no new Kenzie/Gennaro stories, and it's a bit... more info
Customer Review: In this the second book in his Kenzie-Gennaro detective series, Dennis Lehane begins to show his skills in earnest (surpassing A Drink Before the War). The complex plot is well-constructed and expertly revealed. The book opens with Kenzie reflecting on the events to follow and foreshadowing an... more info
Customer Review: More twists, turns, and thrills than the best roller coaster
Dennis Lehane always writes a good mystery. Sacred is one of his best. Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are pushed to the limit in this exciting page turner. From Boston to Florida they prowl for the truth. Each time they think they... more info
Customer Review: what's one more spot to a tiger? Anyway ... . If this book wasn't in a genre that in the end saturated me, I would give it five stars. The style is good (perhaps a weeny little macho-stereotyped), the moral problem posed is genuine and deep, as a mistery i'ts OK, and nowhere does the pace... more info
Customer Review: This is my first Dennis Lehane book. And I enjoyed the story very much. It was a wonderful read, and the story had me stuck. I was home sick and finished the book in one day. I just couldn't put the book down. I will definitely read more of his books!
Customer Review: The book presents us with three intriguing friends. Sean, Jimmy and Dave. Sean is the one with everything. Jimmy is the rough one and Dave is the "wierd" one who tags along with Jimmy and Sean. One day Dave is kidnapped by two strange men but a few days later Dave somehow escapes and comes back... more info
Customer Review: This is my first Dennis Lehane book, and he is a fine writer. He explores many aspects of human nature in his stories, occasionally with a subtle touch of irony. The themes of the stories are sometimes depressing, but they help one gain insight into other people, other places.
