Customer Review: Crusader scribe Peter Mersky turns his talents to the F-8's Vietnam War stablemate, the A-4 Skyhawk, in this Osprey 'Combat Aircraft' volume, #69 in the series. For much of the war the 'Scooter' was THE light attack platform, 42 USN and USMC operating various A-4 models. The A-4 community compiled a... more info
Customer Review: This is a superb volume (with U.S Navy Phantom Migh-Killers 1965-1970) on U.S navy Phantom operations in Vietnam with many rare photos and first person accounts. It tells how the U.S navy having learnt it's lesson with the poor performance in the Rolling Thunder Campaign, created Top Gun and... more info
Customer Review: This Osprey book deals with the exploits of Navy F-4 drivers in the early portion of the Vietnam War and how they performed against the North Vietnamese Air Force and more importantly how they compared to the Navy F-8 Crusader pilots. The chapters follow the Vietnam War from its introduction thru... more info
Customer Review: Noted aviation author Peter Davies concludes his two-volume history of USAF Vietnam War MiG killers with this volume covering the 1972-73 Linebacker I and II campaigns. The Air Force's record over North Vietnam in 1972 and 1973 was spotty at best: 3 Air Force crewmen made ace and 48 MiGs were... more info
Customer Review: For a small book, this volume contains an amazing amout of detail and first-person recall of the A-7 Corsair II flown by naval aviators during Viet Nam. The book is easy to read, although the photographs (B&W) are quite small. A good edition to anyone's Naval Aviation library.
Customer Review: This is a very good book that provides a lot of information on a little-known aircraft that served faithfully for nearly 30 years. The author first provides a detailed account of Navy and Marine RF-8 recon missions over Cuba during the 1962 Missile Crisis. The text and photos in this section alone... more info
Customer Review: I found a reference to this book while trying to find an authentic MiG-21 camouflage paint scheme. The book is excellent in its limited coverage and contains very specialized material. Not designed for the casual aviation reader.
Customer Review: MiG Master tells the tale of the F-8 (also known as the F8U) Crusader. The F-8 Crusader was a fighter developed in the 1950's and was flown by Navy and Marine pilots during the Vietnam War. Mr. Tillman tells us of the development, procurement, deployment, and fighting history of the Crusader.more info
Customer Review: Aviation history usually is produced by dedicated enthusiasts who have never flown the airplanes they describe. In fact, many competent authors have never flown anything. But Bob Powell's history of the Vigilante is unusual in that he not only knows the subject, he's flown the RA-5 and "waved" it as... more info
Customer Review: I picked this book up to expand my knowledge on the Vietnam Air War, primarily the Vietnamese MiG's they used. Dr. Toperczer's work gives us a relatively neutral view (Dr. Toperczer is a Hungarian flight surgeon who has access to the Vietnamese records on the war). In this work, Dr. Toperczer tells... more info
