Customer Review: This book is written really well in the sense that it explains the particular topic in a casual everyday manner, making it very easy to understand. I progressed through the entire book and found this to be the case regardless of difficulty of topic.

Customer Review: For folks who are new to PERL this is a good book to learn the language. The presentation is easy to understand and illustrations help us grasp the concepts faster. There are exercises at the end of each chapter which helps in getting to do hands-on programming. I would have liked more exercises in... more info
Customer Review: I needed an easy to follow, yet comprehensive textbook to teach a class called Fundamentals of computers and the Internet. This book is simple, yet covers all the information a first time computer user needs--without being condescwending like the "For Dummies" series.
Customer Review: This book is great for people that know css well, it makes javascript programming, so much better. If you understand how css works, attaching events, actions, animations is simple. What used to take 30 lines of Dom scripting to do can be done in 2. this book shows you how.
Customer Review: Major knock on this book are the exercises. Some of the exercises were ridiculously hard, had to search on the internet to resolve some of them since the chapters themselves gave very basic information on how to solve some of those problems.

Customer Review: This book does a very good job of covering the basics of C++. Whenever I come across a book that delivers what it promises I am happy... and "Beginning C++" delivers.

There is a whole chapter on docking windows and changing fonts and font colors etc. If you are a programmer that wants to learn VB or even windows forms this book is like... more info

I've bought many books so called "Beginner Books" only to never be able to get past chapter 1. After receiving the advice of learning Python as my first language, I stumbled upon this book and... more info
Customer Review: I wish the textbook had more sample codes. It does a decent job of going over the basics of programming. Between this book and my textbook its making my intro to programming class better.
