Customer Review: As this book is comparing the subtle differences in scanned images the paper and print qualities are paramount to the books success in conveying the desired message. The physical quality of this book is EXCELLENT.
The primary objective of the author is to take the film photographer who has... more info
Customer Review: This book may have been useful in 2003 when it was written, but in the hyper changing digital world, it's now (2008) seriously out of date. As a consequence nearly everything specific about particular hardware or software is not useful. I'm returning the book.
Customer Review: I bought this book solely for reference on scanning line art and fonts, but have found that it has much, much more to offer. I disagree with a prior reviewer that this book is only for beginners and that much of the information is out there on the web. I have been searching, without success, for... more info
Customer Review: 'Scanners For Dummies' was shockingly empty of helpful content. I was looking for useful advice and helpful tips for archiving photos, practical tips for best scanner settings and insights about how to deal with less than perfect images. This book had little information of relevance and nothing of... more info

This book would make a good "Dummies" book, but it is way too lightweight for a security professional's use. Editorially, the book is well written, and Syngress did its usual good job of finding all the... more info
Customer Review: For someone like me, a novice in using the scanner, this was just right. I purchased a very high end scanner, and wanted to do more than just scan pictures, documents, etc. The hardware came with decent color management software, which was upgradable at no cost. I've used it more often and more... more info
Customer Review: This is a nice book for beginners or slightly knowledgable scanner-persons. It isn't an "everything" book, but for novices like me, it was pretty good.
Customer Review: This is a well written book, as are all of Rob Sheppard's books. However, scanning has changed a LOT since the book was written. So, I would class this as a great reference, but not up with the current technology.
Customer Review: Great for anyone who wants a "hands-on" guide to the mechanics of scanning & printing. Lots of comparison charts to show different techniques, loads of explination of those hard to grasp subjects. Brilliant worked tables. Well worth the money! :O)
